John Lewis: Donald Trump not ‘a legitimate president’

U.S. Rep. John Lewis had strong words Friday on the coming inauguration of Donald Trump as president.

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd,” the Georgia Democrat was asked if he plans to forge a relationship with Trump. The civil rights veteran said Trump makes that difficult:

“You know, I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president.”

Lewis, who also testified this week against U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., Trump’s nominee to be attorney general, went on to say he believes the Russians helped elect Trump and that he does not plan to attend next week’s inauguration.

Now it appears Lewis is not the only Democratic lawmaker planning to boycott Trump’s inaugural. USA Today reports Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., is among those who will also not attend.

Watch a clip of the exchange below. More of Todd’s interview with Lewis will air today at 5 p.m. on MSNBC and on Sunday morning’s “Meet the Press.”

Letter sent to the two traitors and enablers who are our Senators:

You have put party above country. The GOP knew long ago that Trump, his attorneys and advisers were compromised and beholden to Russia. You and your party refused to speak out. we now have a traitor and Fascist about to become President  due to your actions.

Repealing Obamacare to satisfy the 1% with no alternative leaves my two adult children with no health coverage along with millions of others. You are willing to forgo billions in savings under the ACA for the greed of insurers, doctors and the upper class.

Waiting  to here the GOP alternative that will increase savings and coverage.

Ashamed to have you as my Senator."""

Perhaps John Lewis is not a legitimate congressman.  He holds office only because his district is gerrymandered.  His behavior since the recent election has been disgraceful.

John Lewis is a fool  He is the laughing joke of the Georgia Congressional delegation.  Wait, he and Johnson maybe tied for that honor.  If it is not a Democrat, then he will never be happy with an office holder.  I can't wait until the day he no longer represents Georgia.
