John Lewis to headline Saturday’s Trump protest march in Atlanta

Washington – Georgia Rep. John Lewis will headline a march in Atlanta on Saturday aimed at protesting Donald Trump’s administration a day after he is sworn in to the White House.

The Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women said Thursday that Lewis will be among a range of high-profile speakers at the 1.7-mile march that will also include House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams and state Sen. Vincent Fort, a mayoral candidate.

Lewis has been locked in a public feud with Trump after he questioned whether the Republican was a “legitimate” president. Trump responded by saying the civil rights icon was “all talk” and slammed his Atlanta-based district as a “crime infested” area that’s in “horrible shape.”

Lewis has kept a lower profile since the barrage, and his vow to boycott Friday’s inauguration means he’ll likely be out of view through the swearing-in ceremony. More than 60 other House Democrats are also skipping the inauguration, and many are citing Trump’s fight with Lewis as the reason.

The Atlanta march, which begins at the Center for Civil and Human Rights and ends at the Capitol, will mirror a larger demonstration to be held in Washington on Saturday. Thousands are expected to attend the Atlanta event, and organizers in Washington expect as many as 200,000 to rally.

Lewis didn't "question" Trump's Presidency, he said President Trump was an illegitimate President. There is a big difference.

Clearly! This is what our leaders have to work with! What kind of business of our country can be negotiated when Reps like this one Obstruct, and refuse to be a part of the team! I say these type of Representatives should be impeached and Representatives who will work for all the people with the peoples interest in mind elected!

He needs to retire, been in Washington to Long, by the way the city of DC would like for him to pay his property taxes on his Millon dollar condo.

If he does he should be removed from office. Whether he likes it or not, Trump is his superior.

Lewis started the feud by what he said about Trump. The only thing Lewis has ever done was to walk across the bridge with King. King also was for peace and he would not have approved of Lewis riding on his name all these years.

It amazes me that a black man can dishonor the honorable, peaceful, God fearing man, Martin Luther King, Jr., who got him where he is!!!

Mike, Trump questioned Obama's legitimacy for 8 years and called for organized protests both times he was elected. It goes with the territory I'm afraid

You can’t lead Black people unless you love Black people, and you can’t save Black people unless you serve Black people. Love and service. To Black people, not the president.

Lewis should have just minded his own business and not run his mouth and everything would have been fine. Then he got caught in a lie saying this is the first Presidential Inauguration he has missed (he missed Bush's too). Stir up a bees nest and you get stung !
