Georgia GOP’s new regime hires new top brass

Georgia GOP chair John Watson. YouTube still.

Newly elected state GOP chair John Watson has begun cleaning house. He’s tapped operative Carmen Foskey, a young rising star in the state’s Republican circles, to serve as executive director.

Foskey, a native of Warner Robins, has managed Republican political campaigns across Georgia, including Republican Eddie DeLoach’s 2015 upset victory in the Savannah mayor’s race, and U.S. Rep. Doug Collins’ most recent re-election bid.

“Carmen’s no stranger to the grit and elbow grease required of a professional turnaround operation,” Watson said. “Her constant campaign mentality will be an asset as the Georgia Republican Party builds a matchless political machine in advance of 2018.”

Watson also announced that Leigh Ann Gillis, veteran political fundraiser for both Sonny and David Perdue, will serve as the party’s finance director.

Gone are executive director Adam Pipkin, political director Brad Hughes, and the two leaders of the GOP’s minority engagement effort, Leo Smith and Lisa Kinnemore.
