As others duck town halls, Georgia’s Carter schedules 9 of them

Dozens of Republican members of Congress are holding town hall meetings across the nation this week as lawmakers return home for a legislative recess many surely dreaded. But in Georgia, Rep. Buddy Carter is among just a few GOP legislators scheduled to schedule an event.

Actually, he scheduled nine of them.

The Pooler pharmacist is planning on leading nine events between Tuesday and Thursday in his coastal district, including town halls in Jesup, Brunswick and Savannah.

According to the tracking website Town Hall Project, he’s in rarefied air. Only two other Georgia House members have planned in-person town halls during the August recess: Democratic Rep. David Scott will hold an Aug. 19 event in Jonesboro and Republican Rep. Doug Collins will host a Wednesday evening town hall in Gainesville.

U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson’s office has also said he plans to hold an in-person town hall meeting, while other lawmakers – including newly-elected Rep. Karen Handel of Roswell – have said they will organize telephone town halls.

Carter was the only of Georgia’s 10 Republican House members and two U.S. senators to hold a town hall meeting in February amid a wave of national protests that have rocked GOP events since Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Critics of the president’s policies have vented at town halls and other forums to vent at the legislators, flooding their phone lines with a barrage of calls, channeling an avalanche of emails their way and holding protests and vigils outside their office.

The failure of the healthcare overhaul – Georgia’s GOP legislators all supported various versions of the legislation – and Trump’s tumultuous opening months have also fueled the critics.

9 of them in very small venues, for only an hour, with very large back doors.

It has happened before and probably will again. Who has a boss that lets you off work to go and protest at a town hall meeting??? Suggests many of these protesters just maybe don't have a job and are being paid to protest??? Say it ain't so?????

With moronic constituents who are demanding government provided healthcare who are being organized by the Progressive socialist that our founders warned us about our elected officials should be better versed in the fact that too many place too much trust in our government. Now we find that Canada's "free healthcare" actually cost each Canadian $12,057.00 per year and approximately 200,000 seek care outside their country! Shame on the ignorant masses who seek to condemn us to Socialized Healthcare!

Now to answer you sill question on what "Newt and the so called Conservative Revolution conserve"? The "conserved" our descent into a Socialist progressive hell hole where the dependents rapidly expand and those that provide the tax base revenue that enable those takers to continue to take while asking for more. It continues to rise every year. Eventually those pulling the cart will realize they no longer have to pull and will join those who just ride. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=85pJ8G+5&id=3EFE94927541E74D49C8FFF4D73AFDBA6B012760&thid=OIP.85pJ8G-5K4snJoOzmYX5tAD-Es&q=Americans+who+don't+pay+taxes&simid=608039050049685116&selectedIndex=93&ajaxhist=0

Correction, on 63,000 left Canada to seek healthcare abroad. The poor were stuck in long lines provided they survived the wait.

Tracy Sample I won't even pretend to comprehend what it is you are implying with the Somalia reference. Chances are when you have to explain it you won't either.

How many paid protesters are going to show up and try to disrupt them?

Erik Moore

David Ross yes, organizing the same way that the Tea Party "organized" with the help of Fox News and right leaning orgs. Zero proof anyone is paid though.......that's fake. And don't use the word "sheeple", that makes you sound, well, dumb.

Until we start making it a point to attend all of these events, and make sure we massively outnumber them to out yell their yelling, which I know doesn't sound like a good time at all and is ignorant behavior, but this is where we are now, and until we start attending meetings that we don't want to attend,\U0001f602 and overwhelm them with our own high numbers and big mouths to shut them down, this will continue. It's already starting to happen. Team red is catching on to the reality that our kindness and respectable behavior is being exploited as weakness! We have to stop this silent majority nonsense and get out there and get loud! Of course we aren't criminals so wouldn't riot and burn anything down, but we have to show our strength and raise hell too! Because we are NOT at all weak people and need to show that we are not intimidated by them and are not backing down.

Erik Moore actually no one is saying everyone is being paid. Fact remains that as sheeple you are easily led by thinly veiled Progressive movements that have tentacles in international strife and turmoil. Soros has been a key figure seeking to wreak havoc globally and most of these "organic protests" can be directly tied to MoveOn.org and their vast network like "The Indivisible Guide. Not even remotely similar to the Tea Party. https://www.studentnewsdaily.com/example-of-media-bias/indivisible-with-ties-to-soros-works-against-trump/ The "Town Hall Project" is ran by a former Hillary staffer who is paid by Soros. https://townhallproject.com/ It's all a sham and you are in fact a member of the sheeple class regardless of how much it sucks to acknowledge said facts.

Erik Moore
Erik Moore

David Ross yes, yes George Soros.......man that's so 10 years ago. Again, Move On is set up for progressives to respond to conservative nonsense, the same way the Tea Party was "set up" to combat Obama. It's just that Move On is grass roots and as we've discovered, the Tea Party was a corporate take over of the conservative movement to make money for its leaders. Remember, corporations are people now! Best of luck.

I am no fan of any republican currently. (I am independent) But, I will acknowledge that Carter has more guts & at least his trying to listen to his constituents by holding in -person town hall meetings. The phone ones are useless, you only get to hear the legislators answer & get no feel for the public concerns.  We have a real bunch of clowns in office & that is the nicest thing I know to say about them. They are all party & no love of country or its people.
