Six Georgia professors filed a legal challenge this week to halt the state’s “campus carry” law that allows licensed permit holders to carry concealed guns on parts of college campuses, our AJC colleague Eric Stirgus reported on Monday.

The professors contended the new campus gun rules, signed into law by Gov. Nathan Deal in May after years of legislative back-and-forth, put students and faculty members in danger. The measure’s sponsor, state Rep. Mandi Ballinger, said “history would bear out that their concerns are unfounded.”
